Hello! I’m Chris Weiss. I’ve been a Maker my whole life, starting with making contraptions with Erector Set, then Lego Technic, and on to scale model building, woodworking and light metal work. I wrote my first computer program that wasn’t copied out of a book at age 11.
In 1997 I got a job at a small Internet provider called First Internet Alliance managing the network and servers, providing tech support, and doing some small custom interactive websites. In 1999 I switched jobs to a medium sized manufacturing company, Wilson Manufacturing Company, doing system administration and software development on their custom CRM and manufacturing software. In 2024 I am now freelance.
In 2009 I helped found a 501c3 Makerspace/Hackerspace called ArchReactor. We started with a 500 sq ft room and 10 members in the old Lemp brewery complex, and how have a 6000 sq ft space in the old Dixie Cream Flour building near downtown with over 100 members. Over the years I have served as president, vice president, and director of technology.
For recreation I enjoy most things outdoors, but especially floating on Missouri’s great creeks and rivers in canoe, kayak, or inflatables with my wife Besa and our friends. Besa and I also volunteer with MO Stream Team cleanups and invasive honeysuckle removable on public lands.
